"The Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995 (Number 22 of 1995) requires members of the Oireachtas, office holders, and designated public officials to disclose registrable and additional interests. It establishes registers of interests, committees for members' interests, and a Commission to investigate contraventions. The Act regulates gifts to office holders, prohibits retention of valuable gifts, and provides for guidelines and advice. It also amends the Prevention of Corruption Acts. The Act came into operation on various dates as specified by resolutions."
