- Majority of visitors to all five Irish city centres use sustainable transport (57-83%)
- Sustainable transport users account for higher or similar share of city centre spend compared to car users in 4 of 5 cities
- NTA uses survey data to inform transport planning and investment decisions
"The Irish National Transport Authority (NTA) published the complete suite of Shopper Surveys for Ireland's five largest cities (Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford). The data show that the majority of visitors to city centres arrive by sustainable modes: 83% in Dublin, 67% in Galway, 64% in Cork, 60% in Limerick, and 57% in Waterford. In four cities, the share of spend by sustainable transport users exceeded that of car users. The surveys provide evidence for investing in sustainable transport infrastructure and public realm improvements."
