EPA Publishes Ireland's First National Climate Change Risk Assessment Main Report (epa.ie)
- First NCCRA for Ireland, assessing climate risks across nine systems.
- Identifies 43 significant risks out of 115 under two emissions scenarios.
- Uses decision urgency framework to prioritize adaptation actions.
- Highlights cascading risks and interconnected system impacts.
- Provides recommendations and identifies knowledge gaps for future assessments.
"Ireland's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the main report of the first National Climate Change Risk Assessment (NCCRA) in June 2025. The assessment identifies and prioritizes climate risks across nine systems: Biodiversity and Ecosystems, Built Environment, Economy and Finance, Energy, Food Production and Supply Chain, Health, Marine and Coastal Ecosystems, Social, and Water Security. It examines risks under two emissions scenarios (RCP4.5 and RCP8.5) and three time horizons (present-2030, mid-century, late-century). The report finds 43 significant risks out of 115 assessed, and provides recommendations for adaptation planning and decision urgency."
