Ireland publishes Renewable Transport Fuel Policy 2025-2027 to cut emissions (gov.ie)

• Targets B20/E10 by 2030; interim B12/E10 by 2025.
• Projected emission savings of 1.08 Mt CO2e by 2030.
• RTFO expanded to road and rail; new certificates for renewable electricity at public chargers.
• Palm oil-derived biofuels excluded from additional RTFO certificates from July 2025.

"The Irish government has published the Renewable Transport Fuel Policy 2025-2027, targeting a 20% biodiesel (B20) and 10% ethanol (E10) blend in transport fuels by 2030. The policy updates the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) to cover road and rail, introduces certificates for renewable electricity at public charge points, and aims to save 1.08 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions by 2030. It also strengthens sustainability criteria, phasing out palm oil-derived biofuels from July 2025."
