"The CSO's Environmental Indicators Ireland 2025 report, published 19 December 2025, shows renewable energy provided 40.2% of Ireland's electricity in 2024, up from 5.1% in 1990-1994. Environmental taxes rose 10.8% to €5.5 billion. Fossil fuel subsidies reached €4.978 billion in 2023, up 74.2% from 2021 due to energy support measures. Dwellings built 2020-2024 are highly efficient: 98.7% rated A. Large energy users (data centres, cement) consumed 31% of metered electricity, up from 14.8% in 2015. Municipal waste per capita was 631 kg in 2023, fifth highest in EU. Air passenger traffic exceeded pre-pandemic levels."
