"The Retail Prices (Food in Catering Establishments) Display Order, 1984 (S.I. No. 213/1984) requires all catering establishments in Ireland to display a notice specifying prices of food sold for consumption on the premises, including any separate charges for service, cover, entry, or entertainment. The notice must be placed at entrances, clearly visible and readable. Establishments can indicate price ranges for certain items. The Order also provides a defense if the offense was due to another's act or unavoidable cause and all reasonable precautions were taken. It came into force on 1 September 1984."
