"The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) estimates the ongoing need for social housing in Ireland at 113,512 households, comprising 59,941 on waiting lists and 53,571 receiving Housing Assistance Payment (HAP). This is a 1.7% decrease from 2023. The report argues HAP households still have unmet need due to lack of security of tenure. An estimated 225,149 people are affected, representing 4.2% of the population."
