"The Irish Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) published its annual report for 2021. The committee held 56 meetings, published seven reports, and processed 668 items of correspondence. Key areas of focus included examination of audited accounts and reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG). Recommendations covered prefab school accommodation, paper payslips (saving €14m), direct provision, bogus self-employment, social housing supports, excise duty reporting, and building standards failure. The committee visited the National Paediatric Hospital and called for an independent review of prison mess committees."
