"Michael McCarthy, chairperson-designate of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), delivered an opening statement to the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Enterprise, Tourism and Employment on 27 May 2026. He outlined NSAI's role in standards development, certification, metrology and market oversight, supporting Irish competitiveness. He noted the current strategic plan 2022–2026 and preparatory work for the 2027–2031 plan. McCarthy commended outgoing chairperson James Kennedy and the board. His appointment as chairperson is subject to ratification."
