"The EPA's latest data shows Ireland's 2024 greenhouse gas emissions at 53.93 Mt CO2eq, a 1.9% decrease from 2023, but still exceeding the 2024 EU Effort Sharing Regulation limit by 3.93 Mt CO2eq. The national carbon budget for 2021-2025 is 81% used. Quarterly indicators for Q3 2025 show a 2.8% year-on-year decrease, driven by agriculture and electricity sectors. Projections indicate Ireland remains off track for 2030 climate targets unless measures are accelerated."
